Obituary for Emma Krieger (Leinweber)

Emma Krieger, age 101, passed away in her sleep on Friday morning, September 29, 2017 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The daughter of John and Mary Leinweber, she was born on March 19, 1916 in Longmont, Colorado. She and her siblings often rode to their one-room school house on horseback. Even though farm work required much of her time, she graduated from high school. On November 17, 1937 she married Adam P. Krieger in Gering, Nebraska. They were married for over 70 years. For a while, Emma worked outside the home at Oshkosh Trunk and Miles Kimball. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oshkosh. Her hobbies included making patchwork quilts, gardening, and bowling. She was famous for her homemade rye bread, graham cracker creme pie, and kraut kuchen.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, brothers John and Albert, and her sister Ella.
She is survived by her sister Amelia Schuhart, many wonderful nieces and nephews which include: Patricia Wilson, Richard Leinweber, Thomas Leinweber, Claudia Hurlbut, Rosemary Sammons, William Schuhart, and Barbara Van Dyke (along with their respective spouses and children), 3 grandchildren – Heather Bostwick, Michael Krieger, and Aaron Krieger (along with their spouses and children), and her son Gerald Krieger, and wife Kathy.
A visitation for Emma will be at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh on Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. The funeral service for Emma will take place at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow.
